The Three Missions of the Civil Air Patrol are Emergency Services, Aerospace Ecucation and Cadet Programs.

The Civil Air Patrol Motto

Semper Vigilans, which is Latin for Always Vigilant.

The Cadet Oath: I promise to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program, and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly, and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my Community, State and Nation.

Civil Air Patrol General Knowledge

1. Civil Air Patrol was formed 01 December 1941.

2. Civil Air Patrol became the official auxiliary of the USAF in Mary, 1948.

3. The first National Commander was Major General John F. Curry, USAAC.

4. Civil Air Patrol consists of a National Headquarters at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL, eight regions and 52 Wings.

5. Civil Air Patrol is comprised of volunteer, civilian members and is governed by the National Board and a Board of Directors known as the National Executive Committee.

The Twelve General Orders

1. To take charge of this post and all designated property within view.

2. To walk this post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.

3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.

4. To repeat all calls from other posts.

5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.

6. To receive, obey and pass on to the sentinel who relieves me, all orders from the Commander, Office of the Day, Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Guard.

7. To talk to no one except in the line of duty.

8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.

9. To call the Sergeant of the Guard for any case not covered by instructions.

10. To salute all Officers, Colors and Standards not encased.

11. To be especially watchful at night, and during times of challenging, to challenge all persons on or near the post.

12. T o use no force or show no force in the execution of my duties.
